We would like to take this opportunity in welcoming Danny Kaye to the Photograph France Team.
Danny is, an accomplished analog and digital photographer, a lecturer in the School of Art and Design at Nottingham Trent University and co-founder of the Facebook group The Photographers Group.
Who better to tell you more about Danny than the man himself, so without further ado I will hand you over to Danny.
I thought it would be a good idea to introduce myself properly in my first post. I have been taking photographs for around 46 years and over that time I have used a multitude of different cameras and systems. My main interests are Landscape, wildlife, macro and portrait photography.
My background is in Engineering, specifically Instrumentation. I have an HND in electrical and electronic engineering, a BSc in Mathematics and a PhD in Computational Bayesian Statistics.
At the time of writing, I am a lecturer in the School of Art and Design at Nottingham Trent University, focusing in film making, sound engineering and photography.
I have written a book on Database design with my good friend Richard Hunt and I am in the finishing phases of book on budget conscious Macro Photography. An e-copy of which will be included in my Masterclass Macro course.
As Mark has already said, I run a Facebook group called The Photographers Group with another good friend of mine, John Pitt. The group is a loose collective of photographers based mainly in Sheffield but slowly spreading across the world. Our furthest member currently being in Detroit. Members are of all abilities from beginner to pro and the group is a great place to hang out and show off your work.
I also run a Facebook group called the Travelling Lensbabies with Craig Strong, Chief Creative Officer & Co-Founder of Lensbaby and Rachell Shomsky a portrait and wedding photographer from Detroit, Michigan. Craig kindly donated a pair of the original Lensbaby prototypes which the group send around so people can use them and share their work. If you would like to join either group drop me a line.
I have designed a panoramic head that is comparable to many of the commercially available ones for a fraction of the cost. Participants on our Panorama courses will receive one of these heads included in the price as well as expert guidance on its use and how to process the resultant images.
I have been printing in the darkroom for over 40 years. Recently my workflow has been to develop the film and digitally scan it using either a dedicated film scanner or flatbed scanner incorporating a film holder. Our soon to be released Black & White Analog Photography Masterclass will cover shooting, developing and scanning film.
I own a large collection of cameras (my wife says too large), including various models by Nikon (both film and digital), Olympus, Mamiya (120 film), Pentax, Voigtlander, Minolta, Minox and Many more. The collection includes 35mm compact style film cameras with a wide range of lenses ranging from 12mm to 600mm. Various cameras and lens are available for you to use should you not currently own one and wish to attend one of our Analog Masterclasses.
I look forward to meeting you on an upcoming Masterclass.
