As someone who deals with digital imagery on a daily basis I’m always on the look out for high quality print companies.
I first came across Saal-Digital at The Society of Wedding and Portrait Photographers Convention in January 2017. I remember at the time being impressed with the products they had on display. Unfortunately, I didn’t have enough time to speak to them properly. Fast forward to March and The Photography Show in Birmingham and with the much larger stand Saal-Digial had many more products on display.
As you would expect from a good supplier the range includes: Prints, Booklets, Photobooks, Posters, Wall Decor, Calendars and Personal gifts.
While at The Photography Show I and a number of my friends and colleagues compared Saal’s products to their competitors and we agreed they excelled in quality and cost far less than their competitors’ products. Saal-Digital offers professional quality at consumer level prices.
The large range of book cover options and presentation boxes is perfect for any genre of photography from wedding to baby and pet to portfolio. The fine art posters and six types of wall decor would not look amiss hanging in any up market gallery.
While talking with Saal at The Photography Show I was invited to review their photo book and wall decor products.
For the professional photographer, Saal offer ICC profiles and the ability to directly upload your files for printing. For the non professional there is a downloadable design package for PC and Mac OS’. I opted for this method as it is the way most of my workshop participants would be designing their items.
Once downloaded the software installed without a hitch. After familiarising myself with the software, creating designs was a simple process. It is possible to select sizes, types, covers, templates and to also start with a blank sheet all from within the design package. It is also possible to change every aspect of your design on the fly.
When you have your finished creation, it is a simple process to upload it for printing from within the software. You can of course save your unfinished work and return to it later. Once uploaded it is just a matter of selecting delivery options and waiting for your items to arrive.
Now here is another area Saal-Digital excel in, production times are fast and you can have your items within a few working days. Obviously, delivery times will vary depending on which option you select and where you are in the world. As an example, I placed my order with Saal-Digital UK and received my items within 5 working days in the centre of France. You can also choose to have the items delivered to your clients, friends or family directly. This is an impressive turnaround time for such a professional service. Saal-Digital offer all the usual satisfaction guarantees you would expect from a high end print supplier and unlike some print companies, do not put their logo on your designs and charge you to remove them.
When my designs arrived, they were well packaged and protected. The quality was as I expected it to be and had seen at the shows, very high.
I ordered a gallery print which was printed on acrylic glass, backed with a 3mm Alu-Dibond panel and a 28 x 19, 26 page glossy cover photobook.
To sum up:
For the Pro: Reduce your production times, ICC Profiles, Sample packs, Direct upload, Fast production and Quick delivery to your customers all at a consumer level price.
For the Amateur: Sample packs, Easy to use design software, fast production and quick delivery. Pro level quality at the same price you would expect from a consumer level product.
I am so impressed with the quality of Saal-Digital’s professional service that I have partnered with them to offer my photography tour and workshop participants a reduction on their photobooks.
You can also receive £20 off photobook orders of £40 or more by using code PhotoFrance17. I do not receive any sort of kickback from you using this code.
